Instagram Head Adam Mosseri Clarifies “Threads App is Not Meant for News and Politics”

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri recently made news with his comments against the Threads app. In an interview with The Verge, Mosseri stated that Threads is purposefully meant to avoid news and politics.

According to Mosseri, including such information attracts undue scrutiny and hostility, and jeopardises the app’s credibility. This unexpected approach has stirred curiosity and debate among users and observers.

According to Instagram’s CEO, the Threads app would not intentionally promote or highlight politics and hard news. Mosseri stresses that Instagram already has strong communities focusing on sports, music, fashion, beauty, and entertainment, which do not need participation in political or news-related material.

Mosseri’s perspective is undoubtedly impacted by his previous work supervising Facebook’s News Feed. By keeping Threads away from politics and harsh news, Mosseri hopes to keep the app focused on other thriving hobbies and create a happy user experience.

Facebook, Instagram’s parent company, has recently taken measures to remove itself from news and politics, as well as address concerns about the propagation of problematic content.
