CleanMyPhone is a new iPhone application from MacPaw, the developer of popular Mac and iOS applications. It assists users in freeing up space by eliminating duplicate photos and other unnecessary images.
There are three primary categories within the application: declutter, organize, and network. Declutter identifies and examines duplicates, screenshots, screen recordings, TikTok videos, app folders, and indistinct images in the photo library of your local device. All images are selected for cleaning with a single tap by default. However, some images can be deselected prior to the cleanup of your photo library.
Organize performs photo scans for the previous seven days, thirty days, or a user-defined range. You will be presented with categories including pets, travel, cuisine, portraits, and others once the scan is complete. Each of these images may be placed in a new folder.
When you choose a category, alternatives that are “similar” and “unique” will become available to you. Those that are similar to you will be grouped together with images that are virtually identical, giving you the opportunity to delete either of them.
During our testing, we found that images were categorized into groups despite having different filters or patterns applied to individuals. Before you begin the process of cleaning the grouped photographs, it is possible that you will want to review a subset of them. Within the Uniques category, one might find photographs that have the potential to be deleted entirely.
To prevent the application from scanning specific images, you may designate them as sensitive. Upon its subsequent scan, the application will disregard each of these images.
The application, for some reason, also includes a network performance test. Although it is a generally beneficial utility, it feels out of place in this application. The company stated that this feature was included to offer “comprehensive utility similar to CleanMyMac,” its Mac-centric application designed to free up space. CleanMyMac has evolved into an all-in-one utility app with multiple security and maintenance features in recent years.
The free version of CleanMyPhone is restricted to the “Other” category for organization purposes and lacks the capability to mark content as sensitive. Users may access these features for a yearly fee of $24.99. The organization stated that it plans to implement a one-time levy by the end of the year.
Additionally, Setapp, a subscription service for macOS and iOS applications, is developed by MacPaw. MacPaw, one of the first companies to publicly implement Apple’s DMA rule revisions, announced its intention to release an iOS app store competing with Setapp earlier this month.
